StopUSB blocks all unknown devices connectable to your computer. StopUSB blocks the following USB devices: removable storage devices, external hard drives, USB thumb drives , MP3 players, iPods, digital cameras, etc. In addition, StopUSB blocks removable storage devices connected via Firewire ports. Necessary devices, such as keyboard, mouse, etc., are not blocked, and therefore the program will not affect normal functioning of the computer.
StopUSB enables to block USB devices with or without a password. Blocking devices with a password may be convenient when only authorized users are allowed to connect devices to the computer.
How to block USB devices with a password:
- Install StopUSB on your computer.
- Protection will be enabled right after the installation.
- Start StopUSB.
- Click General Settings.
- Click the Set Password button and specify the password.
- Enable the Ask this password for unknown removable storage devices option.
How to block USB devices without a password:
- Start StopUSB.
- Click General Settings.
- Disable the Ask this password for unknown removable storage devices option.
StopUSB also allows you to unblock certain devices. One can create a list of devices that should not be blocked. This may be necessary because USB ports are used not only to connect removable devices.
StopUSB can be administered remotely and installed silently. One can enable protection and block USB devices of an entire network.
