StopUSB allows you to log removable device connections and also log actions performed with removable devices. StopUSB creates its own log file in the Windows event log.
Logged Events
StopUSB can log events related to connecting/disconnecting removable devices and also operations with files on a connected device.
Log when device is connected/disconnected - Enables logging the following events for removable storage devices:
- Connection attempt
- Successful connection
- Disconnection, unmounting
Log operations with files - Enables logging the following events for files on removable storage devices:
- Saving
- Creating
- Modifying
- Deleting
Viewing the Event Log
You can use Event Viewer to view the event log. Event Viewer is a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in.
To view the event log:
- Click Event Log in left hand menu.
- Click Open Event Log.
- Select the StopUSB log file in the Event Viewer window.
You will see the list of logged events. Double-click a logged event to view its details.
Managing the Event Log
You can manage the StopUSB log file in the same way as any other system logs.
The following operations are available:
- Save the log to a file
- Clear the event log
- Export the event list
- Customize the log size
- Filter events
To perform an operation with the event log:
- Click Event Log in left hand menu.
- Click Open Event Log.
- Select the StopUSB log file.
- Click Action in the Event Viewer menu.
- Select the desired action.
Note: Click Properties to customize the size of the log file or filter events.
